This homeowner's kitchen was filled with dark cabinets and outdated appliances. Their initial complaints were lack of countertop space, the dark color of the cabinets, and the stove and oven that needed to be replaced. When we met with them, they also expressed interest in installing an under sink garbage disposal and a product called the In Sink Erator, which instantly dispenses hot water at 190F at the push of a button. Our solution to their complaints was to completely remodel the entire kitchen. To increase counter space we installed a granite center island complete with a prep sink. New maple cabinets with Cider Mocha glaze brightened up what used to be dark corners of the room. Their new Bosch double oven has a separate 45" grill cooktop, located on the opposite wall. In the end, the Verlin's were thrilled with their new kitchen, and the In Sink Erator and garbage disposal take some of the hassle out of food preparation. |

This home in Somerville has a typical 1950's floor plan consisting of small divided rooms. The kitchen's tight dimensions were the homeowners' main problem, but they were also bothered by the absence of natural light in the room. To solve these problems, we knocked down the wall separating the kitchen from the dining room and cut open a hole in the wall for a window. The finishing touches included recessed lighting, custom cabinetry, all new appliances, and tile on the backsplash and floor. |

This Flemington family desired a more open floor plan, so one entire wall and a portion of another wall were removed to make room for their new kitchen. The highlight of this addition in Bloomsbury is the kitchen, which ties together the new addition with the existing structure. Cherry pecan wall cabinets and carriage black base cabinets complement the country farmhouse decor, and bring out the darker shades in the tiles, which are warmed by a radiant heating system. |

By eliminating the wall which separated their kitchen from their laundry room this family in Annandale almost doubled the size of their kitchen. A new closet at the end of the kitchen now tucks away the washer and dryer behind bi-fold doors. The wall separating the kitchen from the living room was also eliminated. Now sunlight from the living room windows illuminates the kitchen, and the added convenience when bringing food and refreshments to guests in the living room makes entertaining much more pleasurable.

The full overlay cabinetry elegantly updates the kitchen and fulfilled the homeowners dreams of ridding themselves of their "1970's style kitchen." |
